International Women’s Day Limerick

Tomorrow, March 8, is International Women’s Day. So I thought I’d celebrate with a limerick:

International Women’s Day Limerick

U.S. women are under attack.
We’ve gone backwards, alas and alack.
Our plight is irrational.

Independence Day Ode (Limerick)

Americans gaze at the sky
On a hot, muggy 4th of July,
Watching fireworks flash
At a flag-waving bash.
Others catch forty winks on the sly.

July 2014 Update: My original “line five” back when wrote this in 2010 was:

“A brief respite from life gone awry.”

But I’ve decided that it’s too depressing, so I changed it to:

“Some even pretend that they’re high.”

But a few hours later I changed it yet again to:

“Others catch forty winks on the sly.”
