Dear Dems, Don’t Get Cocky!
Open Limerick To Obama Supporters
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Dear Dems, while the polls look ideal,
I’m not certain the polling is real.
Dem wins are still hard,
So don’t let down your guard.
And make sure it ain’t too close to steal.

Team O may well get cocky soon;
(who could plan for Mitt’s malaprops juicing our numbers!)
As we near the October weekly showdown, it is predictable that the media will rave about a Romney “breakthrough” followed by endless speculation about “is it too late for Romney to catch Obama?”
And the beat goes on…
Suppose I could, suppose I do, wish more politic folk spoke with limericks or poems at least – since this is mostly a “beauty contest”, wouldn’t it be nice to reveal something more of their spirits – I suppose. Thanks.
Great limerick, and oh so true….Well said!
A limerick of truth. Great job, Mad.
A short form I have yet to master. It is said that there are lies, darn (cleaned-up) lies and statistics. Polls are statistics. Well done.
I went a different route:
oh dear
Too soon to light up the stogie
Remember the wisdom of Yogi
It ain’t over till it’s over
There is no four leaf clover
Don’t vote and you’ll score a bogey.
Thanks so much everyone for your kind words. And thanks John for your limerick!
