A Satirist’s Lament
A Satirist’s Lament
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Tell me, what should I do when the news
Is so tragic, it gives me the blues?
Though my job is to mock it,
I just want to block it
And shield my poor overwrought muse.

What should I do when the news
Outstrips my comedian views?
VIPs we elect
invariably select
Rainbow wigs and size 30 shoes!
Fun limerick, Bob!
I may be sticking my head in the sand
But all this bad news, I just can’t stand
All the killing and wars
Not to mention media whores
Are fueling paranoia throughout the land
The cause of your blues is John Boehner,
A fact that could hardly be ploehner.
When he says “so be it,”
It’s easy to see it:
Our Speaker’s a meanie no-broehner!
Thanks for your fun verse Hansi and Steve!
