Yet Another Limerick Ode To Christine O’Donnell
By now you’ve surely heard about Delaware Republican Senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell’s astonishing screw-up in her debate against opponent Chris Coons. I’m speaking, of course, of her First Amendment gaffe. In her now infamous exchange (in a law school, yet) Tea-Partier O’Donnell “appeared to be aggressively ignorant of the fact that the First Amendment requires the separation of church and state.”
That brings me to my latest Limerick:
Yet Another Limerick Ode To Christine O’Donnell
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Debating our Fed Constitution
Can be tough when your grasp’s Lilliputian:
Hence O’Donnell’s conflation
Of church and our nation.
Her savvy could use evolution.
(Here’s my previous limerick about Christine O’Donnell.)

Debating our Fed Constitution,
leads one to this simple conclusion.
You won’t be in the Senate,
But you may be a tenant,
in a state-run insane institution.
And in your finest tea-bag elocution,
we thought you’d add this attribution.
“When the Declaration was read,
the great John Lennon said,
So you say you want a revolution?”
And when the debate was done,
Christine thought she had won.
In the voter’s eyes, however,
They thought she could have done better.
They will listen and then vote,
And think, my that Christine’s a dope!
Christine O’D’d on TV
as one of Macbeth’s witches three.
She hates masturbation
as a threat to our nation,
but can’t grasp that she is not me.
Thanks for your verse, Scott, Diane and VJBinCT!
Nice one, Mad! And shout outs to Scott and VJBinCT forwell-turned limiericks as well.
O’Donnell is lucky her take
On the church and the state’s a mistake.
Or her exploits as a teen
Just might have been seen
As cause to be burned at the stake.
Thanks, Steve. I enjoyed yours too!
 … A particularly good one, Mad!
Thanks so much, Steve Bates. I’ve missed your witty comments and verse!
