Obama, Please Aim For Even Stevens
It’s the end of an era. The great Justice John Paul Stevens has announced his resignation from the U.S. Supreme Court. Here’s a thank you limerick for Justice Stevens:
Obama, Please Aim For Even Stevens
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Great thanks to a judge I admire:
Justice Stevens, alas, must retire.
A supreme loss, indeed!
Please Obama, take heed:
In his place, name a judge who’ll inspire.

Will Stevens’ retirement
Be seen as a portent?
Barack, find umbrellas
Like Brennan and Douglas
The Court should have a big tent!
Justice Stevens I wish you good luck
You’ve served us with a lot of pluck
I hate to see you leave
And I can only grieve
If the Prez nominates some dumb schmuck
Fair Americans will rejoice,
if Obama’s justice choice
can match John Stevens
who supremely evens
the biased Supreme Courts voice.
When will Thomas and Scalia retire?
These are questions I’d like to inquire.
As well as Roberts and Alito
I’d like to impeacho
These activist judges for hire. ;-)
Hahaha! Thanks for joining in with your limericks!
Obama should promptly pursue
Hillary for SCOTUS, thank you
After a quick Senate probe
She’ll look good in her robe
Unless Bill gets a stain on it, too
