An Ode To Lefty Bloggers Who Hate Hillary (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Obama supporters proclaim
That Clinton must quit, hurling blame,
Shrieking “Stop this damn fray!”
Dems love fighters, they say.
But not if the fighter’s a dame.
UPDATE: After posting this, I went searching for some bloggers who are rational on the subject of Clinton and Obama. Here’s what I found:

Thanks for calling me rational. That post made me feel crazy. It’s good feelings are not facts.
Yes, yes, yes, it all boils down to sexism, eh? Obviously. And if the situations were reversed, clearly you Clintonites would be nothing more than racists for wishing Obama would drop out, that’s all there is to it.
Granted, there really is a lot of sexism directed Hillary’s way. But there’s also a bit of nasty vortex-like aspects that are thrown into the mix: some of Hillary’s apparent actual human character flaws seem to match up to sexist stereotypes.
The other thing is this (my own POV): obviously Clinton has every right to stay in the campaign, and I don’t see good reasons from her POV as to why she should drop out now. However, the simple MATH of the situation is that she can’t secure the nomination based on either pledged delegates or popular vote, even with a seated MI and FL. So basically she has to actively ensure that Obama becomes “unelectable” in the eyes of the superdelegates. What do you suppose she must do in order to do that, and what will people think of it?
In short: Clinton’s long shot has the LIKELY effect of making both her and Barack unelectable in November, in a year in which a strong Dem candidate (which both of them were, but are seeming less like now) would otherwise probably cruise to victory.
Seen from the point of view of a lot of Obama supporters and uncommitted Dems, Hillary’s campaign therefore has the distinct air of “me or nobody” for prez. This is what is fueling the (sometimes sexist, shrill, and/or irrational) anger.
Cute poem. ;)
This is completely how I feel. I’d like to make a video blog out of this. Quoting you, of course. Would you mind?
You can claim “sexism’ all you want, but you’re ignoring one thing: The lust for power that both Bill and Hillary Clinton have amassed in the eight years since they left the White House.
Bill Clinton’s lust to return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was inavertently exposed by “Bubba” himself when he made those gratuitous, racially-charged remarks aganst Obama during and after the South Carolina primary in January.
Hillary’s lust is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day.
Both Clintons want one thing above all: The power of the presidency to exact revenge on their right-wing adversaries. Remember Hillary’s remark about a “vast right-wing conspiracy” against Bill when the GOP tried to railroad him over Monicagate?
I’ve had enough of this kind of political calculation — not to mention a continuation of the Bush-Clinton Dynasty, which will turn 20 in November (Lest we forget it will be 20 eyars since George Bush, Sr. won the White House).
Our Founding Fathers did not intend for our country to be governed by a dynasty, which is why I’m backing Barack Obama. It’s time for someone other than a Bush or a Clinton to have the keys to the Oval Office.

[…] The first submission I got for the carnival made me giggle, so I figured it was a good thing to kick off with. Madeleine Begun Kane presents Ode To Eliot Spitzer posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness. At the same blog, and in the same vein, An Ode To Lefty Bloggers Who Hate Hillary Clinton and Ode To Randi “Queen of Obscene” Rhodes, both of which should raise a giggle and have you nodding your head in agreement. While I don’t like Hillary Clinton (at all) I find that the democratic race to the white house has nothing but sexism and racism surrounding it–Is the US ready for a black president? Yes. Is the US ready for a woman president? Uhh…yes. It has to do with who you believe could do a better job as president, not what their skin color happens to be or what reproductive organ they have–People just can’t seem to get that through their heads.
