In Praise Of Frustration (Limerick)

In Praise Of Frustration (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane

My muse is unleashed by frustration
And foiled by excessive elation.
When I’m irked or irate
I’m more prone to create,
While repose sends my muse on vacation.

  1. Bravo, what a clever limerick!

Yep. Emotions can play quite a trick
When lookin’ for words you can pick
One day you are slap happy, another sad
But there is always something humourous by Mad
So it’s by her side I will like glue, stick!

Dear Mad; I must also agree…
I find that it’s easy for me
    To rhyme when I’m mad
    And, ‘though they’re all bad,
They’re worse if I’m feeling carefree.

  4. I am the same way! I added your blog to my blogroll =)

Oh, Drat! Limerick~~“Drat” sounds like a groan from a ruffled U.K. professor & does fall “appallingly flat.” Mad’s cussing limerick~~as well as her homage to frustration [Ennui!]~~are enchanting, enthralling & so enticing to let us blurt out our +%#$@ fury. Blame it on our escalating coarseness or cable TV which habitually showcases how easy ’tis “to swear better than that”? Betcha Ms. Manners is effin’ rabid.

  6. Love that creative genius needs a vacation sometimes as well…sweet limerick.

    Some folks debate
that there is no way to relate
    to something that isn’t there
T’is their own cross to bare
No muse? They also say no fate

    Every thing is justified
only scientific – leaves me terrified
    no room to play
    So sad their day…
    no imagination leaves me mystified
