Dim-Witted Driver (Limerick)

A dim-witted driver named Ed
Often finds that his battery’s dead.
He’s forgetful most nights
And he leaves on the lights.
That’s why Edward is no longer wed.

Note: My husband Mark is a frequent source of dead battery-inspired humor, including these two humor columns: Tow Guy Blues and False Alarm. Thus far, however, we remain married. In fact tomorrow’s our 31st wedding anniversary.
UPDATE: Happy National Battery Day (celebrated yearly on February 18th, in honor of physicist Alessandro Volta’s birthday.)
UPDATE 2: Check Your Batteries Day falls on the second Sunday in March.

Is the guy other motorists dread:
In the left, passing lane,
To a honking refrain,
He putters on, half-steam ahead.
(The Web site isn’t mine, but it is apropos.)
And, having fulfilled the requirements in one verse I take the liberty of changing the adjective, because ol’ Ed changed in the writing.
A preoccupied driver named Ed
Channeled Frost: If the other road led
To more cars and exhaust,
He would rather be lost.
So he took the less-traveled, instead.
I enjoyed your limericks, Janet, especially the Frost one. By the way, I’m a member of Oedilf, though I haven’t been active there in quite some time. It’s an excellent group and site!

I just realized (O, the embarrassment) that I wrote “because of Ed changed” in my second message (which was actually the first one I wrote, but i wanted to play by the rules, so I wrote the second). .
You’ve got an interesting place here.
