Limerick Ode To Daylight Saving Time

Limerick Ode To Daylight Saving Time
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Our clocks all need changing tonight.
Daylight Saving Time — oh what a blight!
We may think it a crock,
But must alter each clock
Till the powers that be see the light.

(More DST humor here.)

    very creative Mad!
It is hard to enjoy daylight savings
When it’s sleep that I really am craving
    Cuz I work Sunday morn
    And my sleep pattern’s torn
So it’s one hour early I’m slaving!

  2. Rinkly Rimes says:

    time out

Mine works better with accompanying chart.

    TIME OUT!

    A lady in Oz, QLD,
Said ‘This time-saving isn’t for me!
They may do it in VIC,
But it just makes me sick!
Say 4.30….. I’ll say half past three.’

(The states can choose whether to follow seasonal time-changes or not. Here we’re just putting our clocks back incidentally.)

Thanks for the reminder about daylight savings time! Your limerick made me a little less annoyed about losing an hour. :-)

    Clock- what is the time?
    Look- it’s half-past life
    Hear the leaden chime.
    Clock- what is the time?
    Tell me now, for I’m
    Struck by time’s dull knife.
    Clock-what it the time?
    Look-it’s half-past life.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and time-related verse!

I can relate to this while living in Wisconsin but love being in Arizona where the clock never changes. Only problem is when we head back north we lose 2 hours as soon as we leave the state. lol

  7. Geraldine says:

Lived most of my life on the Prairies(Sask) where the clocks don’t change either. It doesn’t seem to make a big difference but the savings in energy is apparently huge, Im always for that! Fun blog you’ve got here, I liked your limerick about DST!
