Out on a Limb Haiku Quintet
Though I’m never safe,
his arms always comfort me,
and that must suffice.
*****
Ballroom dancing class—
learning creative ways to
defeat the rumba.
*****
Morning legs dangle
off the bed, as antique joints
brace for their touch down.
*****
Feeling elated—
great, yet dampened by knowing
what’s soon to follow.
*****
Poised atop mirage
of a career, gazing down
at life left behind.
*****
(I wrote the 1st haiku for We Write Poems’ safe prompt; the 4th haiku for Sensational Haiku Wednesday’s elation prompt; and the 5th haiku for One Single Impression’s top prompt and Haiku Heights’ mirage prompt.)

That third one…I know the feeling well.
The joys of aging. :)
fabulous quintet- the first one is sweetest, thats a lot in life.
I related to them progressively more and more as I read down from 1-5…
Thanks.
Each was a topper
The center one took the cake
Delightful Quintets
Very enjoyable!!
I like all of these and love the image of defeating the rumba!
All 5 are great haiku’s, what a beautiful blog you have!
I don’t read haiku often so/and/because they usually disturb me. Why MUST suffice?
The joint thing. Well aquainted. That dangle can be as chancy as the landing.
Nice set! “Defeat the Rumba” made me smile :)
Glad to have you aboard, Mad ;)
I love all 5 Madeleine. I can totally relate to the ballroom
dancing, as, I just finished a salsa class. In a class with
a group of Latin Americans can be quite defeating for a
gringa:)

I loved every one of these. Each in their different ways rang bells with me.

These are all very nice, Mad. :) I like each.
You dancing verses remind me of January a year ago when I was taking dance lessons aboard a cruise ship. The teacher was also the dance performer dancer for entertainment.
I was having some trouble and she spotted me. She was the lightest girl I have ever danced with. She knew where it was that I wanted to go without me even leading her there.
Oh yes, she was Russian.
..
And I will never forget her or dancing with her.
..
The third one describes me every morning.
Thanks so much to all of you for your enthusiastic comments! And your verse.
thanks for these madkane…..nicely done and enjoyed your words
Hi Mad
I absolutely loved all of these haiku – the wordcraft, the imagination, the little wry smiles and the unexpected spin.
Great stuff. Thank you

Thanks so much for your kind words wayne and Dominic!
I can relate to the “antique joints.” This is my first time at your blog, found you at We Write Poems and very glad I stopped by. Haiku is an elusive art form, and you certainly have the knack! Thanks, and peace, Amy Barlow Liberatore Safe Havens
