Chastened Chess Player (Limerick)
When I learn a new word, I sometimes feel compelled to use it in a limerick:
At chess, he is far from adept;
He’s slow-moving, sloppy, inept.
Many call him a patzer;
An apt term at that, sir.
When he gave up the game, no one wept.
(Today, July 20th, is International Chess Day.)

I’m glad to learn “patzer” beyond knowing it as a surname.
Here’s my new word-of-the-month for what it’s wrth:
The word “pwn” — one pronounces it “pone” —
Stroke of luck, this, for now I condone,
Doing just as I please,
With my typewriter keys,
As I make up new words of my own!
LOL!
