Limerick Fair
Limerick Fair
By Madeleine Begun Kane
“Your fare is unfair,” said the fare,
When he got from the fair to Times Square.
“You cab driving cheater,
You rigged up your meter.
Here’s a tip: I’m not paying you. Ne’er!”
(DversePoets asks us to write verse using the word fair.)

ha – probably each of us had their fair share of unfair fare prices from a fair to somewhere…smiles
hahaha….ok maybe too many fares and fairs…that was a bit of a twister in the opening lines….fun…oy and you def have to watch those cab drivers….just saying…
I love the delicious fun of limericks; thanks.
There was a young lady from Nepal,
who wore nothing to the ball.
The cops covered her with a coat
As she began to tearfully emote:
Please fine sirs, give my parents a call.
Thanks for the smile this afternoon.
I think a tip would be out of the question here… and I should give you another limerick…
Once a fair maiden from Kerry
was asked if she wanted to marry
but shaking her hair
rejecting his dare
said: “my fare you never can carry”
Clever capture. I think the fare from JFK into Times Square has more than doubled since my first visit there. Always love your limericks, always clever and perfectly executed. I very much admire you!
too many things just not fair in this world… cute write
You are a pro, no doubt about it….what fun..and these are not as easy as one might think; one has to be pretty persistent and competitive to get the prize.
Groovy take on the prompt. Love the opening line.
Lovely bit of humour in this, and I suspect that more than a few cabbies have rigged meters!
Clever!
:-D
There once was a coward Marina
Who had such a futile demeanour
When she was the fare
She’d never cry ‘not fair’
So she ended up driven to Argentina.
Yes a very different take and I like your form.
Great write just sings. Guess if you get
in his cab you better know your way around.
What a fun little ditty you wrote! Gotta love the humor and rhyme of limerick.
what a clever write…
Gotta love the limerick. Always felt they were like the energy drink in a poem marathon. Quick, delightful, and full of sugar. Nice work.
