Dining Out (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane
There are rest’rants that set a good mood
And are great at adjusting your tude.
They’ll charm and beguile
With a great sense of style.
Now if only they served decent food.

ha…when a restaurant can nail both the atmosphere and the food that is a good thing…there are many that sit on either side of that fence…i have found some restaurants that did and in some pretty surprising places as well…
Isn’t that awful, when you go in expecting to really enjoy it and end up really disappointed.
lmao! I just love this :D … I have such experience with so many restaurants here :D
I know! Substance trumps style every time, but that’s not the world we live in. It turns out the wrapper means more than its’ contents! A little treat of a piece. :)
So very true, Madeline. If only the food would be as good as the decor and as fine as the price!!
ha…i always prefer good food over a decent restaurant atmosphere…
This is a universal lament, nicely captured.
Liked this, Well done, I always forget about limericks.
I think I know a few of those restaurants…loved the way you have used the prompt…cool limerick!
Fun, but I must say, I will sacrifice taste for atmosphere though others prefer the taste.
Good sense here, Mad.
Oh so true, I’ve had some memorable experiences!
A pub lunch or rest’rant meal
Can be served with incredible zeal
But when tongues are not licking
As fine bones start their pricking
One is left with an unpleasant feel
The waitress, when prompted to say:
“Is everything to your liking – Okay?”
You politely ascent
That you’re feeling content
But you wish you could growl “Go away!”
Oops erratum:
A pub lunch or rest’rant meal
Can be served with incredible zeal
But when tongues are not licking
As fine bones start pricking
One is left with an unpleasant feel
Thanks everyone for your kind and amusing comments. And thanks Madeleine Sara for your fun verse.
