Trash Day (Limerick and Haiku)
Trash Day
By Madeleine Begun Kane
On trash day I set a tv
On the curb and before I could flee,
A neighborhood jerk
Yelled, “How well does it work?”
Guess he wanted a signed guaranty.
Streets lined with garbage:
Discarded chairs, broken lamps.
Scavengers’ treasure.

Fabulous! Haiku are so addictive. And a limerick, too!
I’m so glad you stopped by Easystreet. There’s absolutely no telling what I’ll put up each day.
Paisley, my husband’s the scavenger in my family. :)
And thanks Monda! I enjoy your prompts!
Nice take really.. had me laughing!!! :)

The Treasure
he he, signed guarantee would be fun
heh..heh…that was cute!! a signed guarantee…
this is a teasure worth scavenging indeed!!!
Neat words. I’ve always wanted to do ‘gathering’ like that but never have – it’s absolutely true, isn’t it, that one man’s trash…
LOL!
I truly love coming here!
glad i didnt miss this treasure, thanks MK!
Fun poems. I horde useless things. Flea markets, garage sales, curbside service. There is discarded treasure to be found everywhere.
Great fun.
Oh I’ve found some great stuff scavenging in the streets
I’m not much of a scavenger, but I son always brought home neat stuff when he was a kid.
I can confess to discreetly picking up the odd piece from the roadside! And no comments about my girlfried please
It’s so refreshing to visit your site and see limerick’s done well! Thanks!
Great poem, thanks for the smile
Thanks so much to all of you!
Scavenger’s treasure…who would have thought that…love this limerick.
that is a great one…absolutely, put it to the curb and there’s someone right there…one man’s treasure another’s trash…something like that
Love ’em both, you know what they say in my back alley?
They say: One mans rust is another mans riches!
Thanks to all of you for our enthusiastic comments!
Loved your poem.
