Sporty Limerick
Once again, it’s Limerick-Off time. And that means I write a limerick, and you write your own, using the same first line. Then you post your limerick here and, if you’re a Facebook user, on Facebook too.
So I hope you’ll join me in writing a limerick with this first line:
A sports-loving fellow named Lee…
Here’s mine:
Sporty Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Had a very bad elbow and knee,
Which he blamed on a fall
Suffered playing pro ball,
But he only knew sports from TV.
Please feel free to write your own limerick using the same first line and post it in my comments. And if you’re on Facebook, I hope you’ll join my friends in that same activity in my Facebook Limerick-Off post.
To receive an email alert whenever I post a new Limerick-Off, please send me an email requesting the alerts. You’ll find my email address on the upper right sidebar, in the “Author” section just below my Limerick-Offs button. Thanks!

A sports loving fellow named Lee
Only watched stuff beginning with C
So cricket was fine,
And cycling divine,
Cheerleading? I’ll try it and see!
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Got hit so hard he couldn’t see.
Yeah, he had his falls
Even took it in the balls.
Now, without a prosthesis, he can’t pee.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee,
saw more than he wanted to see.
Brett Favre with no clothes,
Rex Ryan’s wife’s toes,
and Cam’s dad wanting one-eighty Gs.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Was waiting in line at the tee
when from out of the blue
came the words ‘Stop! Hey! You!’
Twas the groundskeeper wanting his fee.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Went berserk like a crazy monkey;
Red-flagging each play,
Calling outs on game day,
‘Twas the life of an ump wannabe.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
used to put both his balls on a tee.
He swung very hard
but they didn’t go far
being attached to the base of his club, you see.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee,
sought tix for all games he could see.
But when games were too far
to drive to by car,
he watched on his bigscreen tv.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee,
bet a horse with the name of Seabee.
When his nag lost the race
he got red in the face
and beat up the losing jockey.
I’m enjoying these limericks. Thanks! And please keep them coming!
A sports loving fellow named Lee
Sits out glooms poor me
if only i did wait
before kicking the gate
should’ve kicked the wife for leaving me
A young wild trotting kitty
Delights in a frenzied witty
wish you’d take a break
the baby may wake
You are incredibly hyper for being so bitty
free cat to good home
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Likes to watch every game on TV;
He begins when, at dawn,
English football comes on,
And keeps watching ’til “Sumo at 3.”
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Left his sofa to go take a pee
On the way back
He stocked up on snacks
The cycle repeats endlessly.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Love to show off ambidextrously
He would start with his left
Then switch to his right
He was really quite good with the kite
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
bought Knicks tickets for a small fee
He realized they stunk
and fell into a funk
so he changed his love to MTV
A sports-loving fellow named Lee
Wanted to be part of the tea party
He twittered Ms. Palin
Who was busy wailing
About Obama still ruining the country.
These are delightful limericks! Thanks. I’m looking forward to even more. :)
A sports loving fellow named Lee
capered about shouting Yippee.
He’d scored a goal,
whizzed straight in the hole –
a hat trick, for that made it three.
A sports-loving fellow named Lee,
Sedentary spectator was he.
Sacks of snacks of all sorts,
Plenty beer, pints and quarts
Sat in racks right beside his TV!
Thanks for your limericks Swisstoons and vivienne!
Liked your sports-loving fan whose named Lee,
But alas there’s no talent in me.
I worked very hard
To find I’m no bard.
No more lim’ricks for G.W.B.
Gary, that limerick isn’t bad at all. I hope to see more verse from you. :)
