Unenlightened (Limerick)
Like so many people in New York City (and the Northeast in general) hubby Mark and I have been besieged by snow storms this winter. And we’ve also lost a chunk of our electric power.
The good news is Con Ed, our power company, was very responsive. The bad news is Con Ed says the problem is ours. And electricians, always elusive creatures around here, are harder to hire than ever.
Oh well — at least our computer lines work.
Unenlightened (Limerick)

A part of our power is dead,
And the problem is ours, says Con Ed.
Electricians are busy.
(The storm’s caused a tizzy.)
But the phone works. At least we’ll be fed.

So sorry to hear about the power outage problems. Out here in “the woods” of the Pacific Northwest, many of us have wood burning stoves so we can still stay warm when the power goes out. Whatever do folk do who have no back-up source of warmth?
Thanks, Joyce. I’m lucky because my power outage is partial and I do have heat. I’m just missing power to all of my overhead lights and half my electrical outlets.
People around here sometimes move into each other’s homes, if they can find a friend with heat. Some people have backup generators, but that’s rare, as are wood burning stoves. We actually do have a fireplace which is mostly meant to be decorative, but it does give off some heat in a pinch.
