International Accounting Day (Limerick)
Happy International Accounting Day, which is celebrated on November 10th. My apologies to accountants for this limerick:
Limerick Ode To An Excellent Career
By Madeleine Begun Kane
The comptroller had tried to do well
With his powerful urge to excel.
He had planned out his life
Using spreadsheets, but strife
Intervened. He’s accounting in hell.
UPDATE: October 17 is Spreadsheet Day.

A quick one without laboring for hours:
The accountant found dining a waste.
To the doctor: “My palate’s misplaced.
With this cold in my head
I won’t buy more than bread.”
Seems there’s just no accounting for taste.
…and I thought you couldn’t possibly go wrong if you stuck to spreadsheets….
You made me smile.
This was absolute fun for me who HAVE to leave accounting and money matters to others.
I rely on a computer program to balance my check book – Numbers are not my forte…
Love that wordplay–powerful urge to excel–terrific!
Have to love the “Excel” comment. You are a wily woman, but you already knew that! Love you, Mad… Amy

I loved that “strife intervened” – says it so well!
Thanks so much everyone for your enthusiastic comments!
This made me smile. I am sure there is a lot of accounting in hell. LOL.
Thanks, Mary! :)
