Pressing Issue (Limerick)
October 21 is “Count Your Buttons Day.” But I’m pretty sure these aren’t the kind of buttons celebrated by this holiday.
There are folks with a notable skill:
They can press all my buttons at will.
You would think at my age
That I’d fin’lly be sage,
But I still haven’t learned how to chill.
(Prompted by button over at DVerse.)

ha…my kids often say: hey mom, just chill…and i go grrrrr.. have to work on this..smiles… loved your limerick madeleine
haha…i can chill most of the time…but there are a few that surely know how to press the ones to get my ire up…smiles…
Chloe (my teen) even manages to find buttons to push that I didn’t even know I had…LOL As most teens do, I’m told ;)
I’m getting better at chillin, but my buttons can definitely be pushed. Love it, Madeleine!
heh-heh – I love the brevity!
people only know how to press our buttons because we have shown them that those buttons work and keep working

I’ve learned to chill and walk away,
wish I had learned in my younger day !!!
Love ya, Madeleine
So many things in the past
that happened so fast
I was taught happened
because it was God’s will even if it saddened
It was I who created them, I know now at last.
Wonderfully done! ~ Rose
I feel exactly the same way!
Thanks so much everyone for all your kind comments! And thanks for your verse Linda and C Rose!
Super clever, as always. K.
This is the first time I’ve read a truly serious limerick–though maybe by now you are used to the button pushing and laugh at it. My poem–perhaps totally devoid of humor–is related!
That’s a skill I’ve struggled to master, and often fail at! But as you say, guess some out there are good at knowing which buttons to push.
This is a fun limerick.
I’ve never been able to come up with a limerick and you have a whole blog. Kudos!
Thanks so much Manic, Susan, and Ravenblack!
