The Onset of an Acrostic Limerick

The Onset of an Acrostic Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Oh my, don’t know where to begin —
Not a hint of a concept herein.
So where shall I start?
Eke out rhyme from my heart?
The trick is just write — in like Flynn.

(Inspired by onset over at Acrostic Only.)

You can find more of my acrostic limericks here.

Yes, I can identify with having no hint of a concept.
Starting anyway doesn’t always work though :-(

  6. In the face if it- a limerick can seen quite easy- but then when you try and write one- it gets difficult – and then to write on like this? Well- that’s skill- hats off to you! And I like the sentiment- the looking for an idea- curse of the port sometimes!

  7. Port? I meant poet…of course it might be the curse of the port? Go and read this in a harbour and see if any boats sink :)

  12. a yes “just write”…there is no wrong on the page, let it flow!

  13. Tom Hale says:

Golly bell, what a great deal!
Make me thinner with more sex appeal!
    All I have to do
    Is be PayPals with you?
Less a loser I’m starting to feel!

  14. Tom Hale says:

    The number of wishes allowed
How many make it a crowd
    Raphael’s Graces
    Eve’s sundry faces
E’s in a word that means proud

  15. :-)) Enjoyed this one, Mad! “Onset” is such a tough word to work with, but I gave it a whirl, anyway. Here’s mine:

    “ONSET (of Insanity)”

One MORE day of rain we must weather
Now it SEEMS we’re all in this together
    Still my sanity strains
    Each day that it rains
Too much MORE, and I’ll soon slip my tether!

And if you want to also read the “sequel”… or maybe just the continuation… you can find “RAINY Day(s & Days)” here on my blog:

    RAINY Day

Thanks for this prompt! It was perfect for injecting a bit of humor into this rainy streak we’ve been having. :-))

In the daze [sic] of “Imagine” book, your limerick is also topical. [You already know “clever,” “beautiful,” “Well-crafted.”] zee

  20. “not a hint of concept” :-D Well, it seems it all worked out fine.
    Best, M.
