Abandoned Verse (Limerick)

Once again, I’m having fun with a new-to-me word: EPINICIAN.

I once nurtured a worthy ambition
To compose a fine ode epinician.
Then I learned with chagrin
That such verse needs a win.
I surrendered, forsaking my mission.

  1. The Portly Bard says:

    Perjury Surgery

Though it pains me to have to convict her,
I’m afraid that I must contradict her.
    Her confession ain’t so
    for I see right below
such an ode to a code bending victor.

  2. Mel Duarte says:

I’m not as eloquent as the noble Pindar
whose brilliant works are superior by far
So I’ll refrain from composing an ode epinician
and focus on dressing mousy mannequins
who are easy to manipulate and have no opinions
