Happy Peculiar People Day (January 10)
Here’s my two-verse quatrain poem, in honor of Peculiar People Day. (January 10)
Ode To Peculiar People
By Madeleine Begun Kane
My peculiar predilection:
I like people who are odd.
I’ll applaud a little strangeness,
But find “normal” humans flawed.
That makes perfect sense: they tell me
I am rather “weird” myself.
I don’t mind critiques and putdowns—
Just don’t call me “off the shelf.”

At last, my own day! Normality is terribly over-rated.
awesome! I love peculiar people too – the spice of life!
Many a true word spoken in jest. Who wants to be ‘normal’?
I like it. I’d hate to be normal.
I agree with Cosmo! Exactly :)
i love the fact that acceptance is all about uniqueness
I like odd people as well, they come up with something new and unexpected each time
Clever. Yes, I agree with J. Cosmo too.
Ah yes. Perfectly normal goody goody people annoy me too. You’ve captured a universal sentiment cleverly in your poem.
I am not comfortable around peculiar people. I find the majority of people terribly peculiar:)
peculiar people keep it interesting you know….
ha, i wonder how many people realize they are one.
Right with you there. Loved it.
as a people watcher.. I so enjoyed this… :)
It would be so boring if we were all the same. As a rule so-called peculiar people are more interesting.
There you go… no problem :-)
Thank you a smile

Oh a poem about me. How kind. Hee hee.
I love weird people. They are much more interesting and authentic than the regular boring ones. <3
Love this piece.
Definitely not made in a mold, you needn’t worry about being called “off the shelf.”
You are hardly “off the shelf”!!
Off the wall is definitely better than off the shelf!
