Big Brotherly Limerick

I should probably write a serious limerick on my Political Madness Blog about the four P’s: Privacy, Prism, the Patriot Act, and Power. Because it’s becoming self-evident that whoever’s President (a bad guy or a theoretically good guy) will take whatever power his predecessor had and use it, exploit it, and expand it.

But I’m not in the mood to write a serious limerick, so I offer this one instead:

Big Brotherly Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane

A fellow was going through hoops
To avoid being spied on by snoops.
He had nothing to hide,
But could never abide
His life being turned into scoops.

    Both left- and right-wingers agree,
“This surveillance is not right for me.”
    For the right this is new;
They have found a changed view
    Since the Obama presidency.

a fellow was going through hoops
cos his sheila had flown the coop
    she loved him to death
but with the money all spent
she needed to find some more loot

See docu “War on Whistleblowers”; Prez O has prosecuted more whistle-blowers than any other admin in history. Pls pen a serious limerick, Mad, on your 4 P’s~~Prism is sober stuff; Bradley Manning.org. NYT Edt’l on 6/6/13 [D-Day]:

“Prez Obama’s Dragnet~W/in hrs of the disclosure that fed’l authorities routinely collect data on phone calls Americans make, regardless if they’ve any bearing on a counterterrorism investigation, the B.O. admin issued the same platitude it’s offered every time B.O.’s been caught overreaching in the use of his powers: Terrorists are a real menace & you shld just trust us to deal w/them because we’ve internal mechanisms (that we’re not going to tell you about) to ensure we don’t violate your rights. Those reassur-ances have never been persuasive—esp coming from a prez who once promised transparency & accountability. THE ADMIN HAS NOW LOST ALL CREDIBILITY ON THIS ISSUE.

B.O. is proving the truism that the EXECUTIVE BRANCH WILL USE ANY POWER it’s given & VERY LIKELY ABUSE IT. That’s 1 reason we’ve long argued that the Patriot Act…was reckless in its assignment of unnecessary & overbroad surveillance powers…W/o any individual suspicion of wrong-doing, the gov’t is allowed to know whom Americans are calling every time they make a phone call, for how long they talk & from where…& IT REPUDIATES CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLES GOVERNING SEARCH, SEIZURE & PRIVACY…

Stunning use of the act shows why it needs to be sharply curtailed if not repealed…B.O. CLEARLY HAD NO INTENTION OF REVEALING THIS EAVESDROPPING.” Aaack! [CAPS MINE]
