Stop Smoking, Already! (Limerick)

Here’s a limerick to celebrate World No Tobacco Day. (May 31st)

Stop Smoking, Already!
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Please stop smoking already. Don’t dicker.
Tobacco will end your life quicker.
Have a heart, as I air
This advice, cuz I care:
Be kind to your lungs and your ticker.

If you won’t take care of your lungs
At least think to be properly hung
    Tobacco will render
    Much weaker your member
And you’ll lose out on pleasure and fun!

  2. Great job! I have seen a lot of people die from smoking and its not a pleasant way to go.

The new prompt is up =)

  3. Randy Mazie says:

There once was a man in a room
Who would smoke and would choke and consume
    Scads of cigarette packs –
Of cough, he wheezes and hacks –
And denies he’s inhaling his doom.

There once was a smoker named Seth,
Who couldn’t take in a clear breath.
    He’d cough and he’d wheeze,
    And fall to his knees,
    Disbelieving he’s inhaling DEATH.

Tantalizingly clever “don’t dicker” [a captivating word] “w/your ticker” limerick. Mazie’s 2 are sublime but spooky. Around our midtown double-bldgs are signs that restrict smoking in 3 promenades & tree garden to “25 ft from bldg.” Not far enough for most of us but that’s NYC law. Aaack! [Contractors are building more smoke-free residential apt bldgs, yippee!]
