Hashtag Madness (Limerick)
Please relax Cher fans — Cher is still alive:
Legions of Twitter users were fooled into thinking the pop singer had passed after people began posting about late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher under the hashtag #nowthatcherisdead.
Hashtag Madness (Limerick)

“Nowthatcherisdead” — hashtag blur
Has created one hell of a stir:
Dear fans of Ms. Cher,
Who’ve read “news” you can’t bear:
Cher’s alive. Thatcher’s dead. As you were!

Well, my classic pun doesn’t fit the meter very well, but I’ll toss it in anyway… (I could probably do better but I haven’t the ambition at the moment. The late-nighters will understand.)
“I’ve a sister,” she said with a grin —
“We’re identical, always have been.
We were taught very young,
In hymns that were sung,
That ’twas ‘Cher and Cher alike,’ to begin.”
ha. an interesting thing here in the digital age, they know you are dead before it ever happens…smiles.
Fun as usual, Mad. I always know where to go when I need a smile and a spirit-lift!
You are fun! A nice respite sandwiched in between some sober musings.
I meant somber not sober.
Dear Madeleine,
I found the tomfoolery here before it got to me. That’s how fast the internet is. You squash it as it goes viral!
Funny! I had heard that there was a Cher rumour, but I didn’t know how it started. I had to read the hashtag twice before I got it.
Good one, Mad!
Love it, Madeleine! Rhythm and sound and content all in one perfect little package..
It’s all in how you read it–excellent limmerick Mad! :-)
Thanks so much everyone!
