Angst-Ridden Limerick (Acrostic Limerick)
This month Acrostic Only asks for an acrostic limerick featuring the word ANGST. (An acrostic limerick spells out a word via the first letter of each line.)
So now you know why this limerick is definitely NOT funny:
Angst-Ridden Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Anxiety, fear, apprehension
Neurotically fill me with tension.
Getting out of my chair—
Somehow going somewhere
Tends to help with depression prevention.

Aloha fills my soul with joy,
Nurturing others to employ,
Goodness and love to others, share,
Sincerest thoughts everywhere,
Tremendous effect on each girl and boy
A fellow who feared being spurned,
Not meeting expectations that burned,
Got comfort when she said
Said ‘Let’s just cuddle instead’
Then relieved him, when they adjourned.
Cancer Angst
At first when they said I’ve a tumor
Naturally I turned to humor
Gotta laugh or I’ll cry
Somehow I knew I’d get by
The tumor is now an old rumor
Hiya,
Just stopped by to say your poets united link is wonky.
You are on wiki!
How impressive. And then I saw all the awards. Bowing down.
Messed the thing up by double dipping on ‘said’. Corrected version on my blog.
Thanks everyone for your verse and your kind comments!
yes it does – sometimes exercise and sweating are even better. like how you can fit so much in the form :-)
It may not be funny but it certainly is wise! I’ve never seen a “serious” limerick before… I like it…what a fun way to get a message across…
Your limerick touched me this week Mads–
Very wise! I can relate to this strategy. :)
I could have sworn I left a comment here. Oh well, things happen.
I really love this limerick, I I usually don’t love limericks! Wonderful.
Thanks so much everyone for your enthusiastic comments!
