House To Close Its Doors (Limerick)

Fox’s medical drama House is finally coming to an end. So it’s confession time: I hate House.

In fact, I loathe all medical dramas, doctor comedies, and any other show about sick people. Why? Because the mere mention of symptoms makes me start feeling them. So if I want to avoid real life doctors, I have to stay far away from the fake ones.

House To Close Its Doors (Limerick)

Though it’s not my intention to grouse,
I detest doctor dramas, like House:
TV ailments and ills
Make me itch, give me chills.
WebMD, here I come — Where’s my mouse?

That was hilarious. I enjoy a medical drama once in awhile. I had an aversion to Grey’s Anatomy for the longest time. But then my Lady and I watched the ending episodes of season 6 and realized how well acted the show was. It can be over dramatic and a bit silly at times, but we DVR it faithfully each week now.

    Cheers!

    Bravo, encore!
I enjoyed House for a while, but then I went on to CSI Crime Investigations, though i’m usually a costume drama, feel good film kinda gal. ;O)

Dr. House? The guy’s terribly bright
(Though on Vicodin, high as a kite)
    But makes, at his closest,
    Four wrong diagnoses
For every one he gets right!

Me, too. I used to call it “Oprah Disease.” If it was on Oprah, I had it!

  5. I have never seen “House,” but have been thinking I’ve been missing something. Is the only reason you don’t like it because you get sympathetic symptoms or are there other reasons? I am glad to hear someone un-recommend it.

BUT, I wanted to tell you that I hope to put a link to your blog on my blogroll. However, I have many (fussy) categories on my sidebar and I keep wondering if you should go under “poetry and writing” or “the funny.” You qualify for both categories. I know I’m slightly neurotic about this. I thought I’d ask you what you prefer or see if you don’t care a lick and I’ll be neurotically on my own again.

I await your answer. I’ll check back….thanks, Katherine

That is a really good reason to stay away from medical dramas! I prefer not to think about medical emergencies often too… though I do enjoy Nurse Jackie. :)

Thanks Bob for your fun limerick.

Thanks everyone for your kind and amusing comments.

And thanks Twinklysparkles in advance for your blogroll link. Either category would be fine, but I guess poetry and writing would be ever-so-slightly better. And regarding House, I have such a general aversion to medical shows, that I can’t fairly give an opinion about whether or not it’s a good one.
