It’s Royally Over!

I’ve gotten several emails and Facebook messages asking me why I haven’t written a limerick or haiku about the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Here’s your answer:

It’s Royally Over!
By Madeleine Begun Kane

I’ve no int’rest in all the ado
Over wedding fetes royal. So sue!
I don’t care if some Brit
Who’s a prince will commit
To a commoner. Boring! So shoo!

Cool! You’ve summed up the general feeling over here!

  2. Granny Smith says:

Maybe I’m too old to get excited just because royalty is involved. (Yawn) A good limerick to express my opinion of the excessive news coverage of the event.

  3. I didn’t get excited about it, watched a small portion, but you should read Tillybud’s take on it. – Much better than a telly commentator. I enjoyed your limerick, too

  4. Iself says:

Spot on – my feelings exactly.

  5. Well I enjoyed it. We are all our story more than anything else. And I’d say the UK is split right down the middle on this.

  6. Stan Ski says:

Yeah, you said it just about how it is for many of us.

  7. Tilly Bud says:

    Off with her head!

    lol I enjoyed this.

Viv, thanks for the plug :)

Oh Mad, don’t give the wedding a pass
Why are you such a contrary lass?
    The Brits had their day
    And put on a display
Despite it being a royal, pain in the ass.

  9. Poetjanstie says:

There was once a Prince and a nether
Who were filled with a strong need to tether
    but the cynics outcry
    have no insight to why
it’s all meant to hold us together.

It’s all meant to hold us together
The story of the Prince and the nether
    an example in truth
    of renewal in youth
to rejuvenate old hearts, ‘spite the weather.

To rejuvenate old hearts, ‘spite the weather
to lighten their load to a feather
    to help us realise
    we could be surprised
at how well it holds us together.

I believe you share the sentiments of many others, Madeleine.
It has been a journey of smiles this month. Here’s to continuing. Nice to have met you.

    An American lady like me
    Doesn’t care about Brit’s royalty,
    But twas quite a display
    A grand wedding day,
    A respite from world’s maladies.

I enjoyed this and all of your limericks Mad!!! :)

  12. Victoria says:

    If I were a tax-paying Brit
I surely be having a snit
    a royal waste of money
    does not seem so funny
yet no one is throwing a fit.

    Thanks, Versebender!

  16. Hehe. As you saw on my blog, I wasn’t too enamored with the wedding either. However, I thought the fact he was marrying a commoner was quite interesting. Very cute limerick. :)
