Tax Time, Already?
Tax Time, Already? (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane
It’s tax time again — I’ve been lax.
Am I stalling? Oh yes, to the max.
Cuz I’d rather write verse
Than struggle and curse
Over taxing mathematical facts.

Cool write off!
Though I’m monetarily taxed
With income more waned than waxed
As I sort through my files
(the piles over piles)
I find it’s my patience that’s maxed.
That was supposed to be thRough my files. There are some things that spell check won’t catch!
Note From Mad Kane: Granny, I fixed it for you.
I totally identify. And I liked the pun in “taxing”.
Yes, indeed. I find writing a good excuse for putting off just about anything!
Mad, loved the double entendre of “taxing”! I’m the queen of procrastination, but when tax time comes around, I’m good… Amy
prelude to a poem
Brilliant. Do you think the taxman would accept this instead of your tax return?
Help! I’m having one of my attacks
I’ve waited too long to do my income tax
I don’t have any forms
Schedule A? I’m forlorn-ed
So here sit I’m waiting by the fax
Amen, sister. Verse is better.
As always, a sheerly delightful read!
ARGH! Tax time!
Perfect put. I too, rather work on verses than do whole bunch other things
Oh, I feel differently….
Hurrah it is time to tax file
I always do mine with a smile
When it comes to the gov
I am truly in love
(My house has been bugged for awhile)
Yours is way better, but I felt like playing
Good stuff, Mad.
Thanks so much everyone for your verse and kind words!
Excellent! Clip it to your tax return. Although maybe the Tax Inspectors don’t have a sense of humour…
Like the word play, and I am so not into Math of any kind.

Hear, hear! In agreement, tenfold!
