Limerick Ode To Print Newspapers
Limerick Ode To Print Newspapers
By Madeleine Begun Kane
It appears that print papers are dying,
Cuz few are subscribing or buying.
Print magazines too
Keep saying adieu.
Who’s happy? The trees — they’re highflying.
(Written for Theme Thursday’s paper prompt and Miss Rumphius Effect’s tree prompt.)
UPDATE: May 16th is “Love A Tree Day.”

I’ll never give up my newspaper!
Delightful and happy for those trees!! :)
Yeah, the days of printed media are gone
But what’s next to come along?
No need to fret
It’s all on the Net
A new tune, but the same ol’ song
Great way to look at it!
Great perspective! I just canceled my subscription to The Wall Street Journal today. How appropriate to read your post!
Thanks for your limerick, Hansi. And thanks everyone for your comments!
That was so funny! I loved it! I agree about the trees but I wonder…are all these heavy metals found in our electronics good for our environment? It’s hard to know…
This was fun!
Oh yes! This one is Intense..
You said it quite right. Newspapers no longer bring news or highlights. They have become wannabe glam mag!
Sending you Love xox
Thanks so much Chrisd and Olivia!
I’m an online reader, yay for the trees!
I gave up newspapers because too often they weren’t read, merely recycled. That’s not healthy for trees!
So much competition in grabbing our attention it’s no wonder the paper has gone down the sensationalist road. I still like my Saturday paper for the my crossword puzzle though. Great limerick.
concrete and cool..
Thanks to all of you!
Oh so true and beautifully said :)
Thanks, Cynthia!
