Haunted By Haiku
Warning to those here for their daily dose of “funny.” Most of these aren’t. Sorry!
My passionate hunt
for humor in the mundane—
a chastening quest.
*****
Vulgar temptation
haunts, tantalizes, prevails—
beats dainty retreat.
*****
Passionate and raw
feelings too painful to root
escape on breached wings.
*****
Integrity fights
a war against temptation—
battles to a draw.
*****
A thought tempts, glimmers,
says “explore me,” then wings off—
never to return.
*****
Marching to the beat
of your own drum may work best
in solo parades.
*****
To those who ask me
how I remember my verse—
that’s what blogs are for.

well, some were funny…all were good. Admire haiku…can’t do it myself, perhaps why I find it fascinating. vb
marvelous haikus.I loved them
Pithy and succinct..great haikus…I like divas, so 6 is my favourite.. maybe good advice for the brass section:)
a crash to the head
from trumpets blasting Wagner
oboist now deaf
tinnitus is rife
in an orchestral life with
brass behind woodwind
You have some way with words!
Maddy Dear,
You have expressed it very well!
Those small pieces were connecting to give out a fine verse..
Hugs xx
I liked all of them. I’m just a beginner at haiku’s; you do them wonderfully. I can relate to the last one too! :D
Madeleine,
I concentrated on the “raw” haiku, since I take one prompt at a time. “Passionate and raw” certainly works in this context. I’ve seen everything from raw meat to “in the raw,” but my favorites are emotions…
Here’s mine: Raw Nerve
Thanks! Amy BL
Thanks so much to all of your for your kind words. And Rallentanda those are delightful musical haiku, and they bring back so painful symphonic memories. :)
Never mind the humour, feel the truth.
I love your limericks!
walk the world
The 2nd and 3rd Haiku’s are both on wings of fire and ‘vulgar temptations’ and ‘raw feelings’ both beat a hasty retreat!!
Nice ones!
Cheers!!
Thanks for your kind comments!
Oh, Madeleine, these are so lovable! I can’t pick up a favorite. Maybe the one about the “solo parade”… And you are quite right about
“how I remember my verse—
that’s what blogs are for.”
I really find difficulties keeping track of my own verse, anyway, so thank goodness for blogs which replace the good old journal :-)
It’s been such a pleasure reading! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Mariya. So glad you like them and could relate!
Each haiku seems to be a glimpse of inner sensitivities! Thoughtfuk and beautiful! Especially love the idea of following your own drum in a solo parade!
Oh I love that second to the last one. So clever.
I liked them all but my fave is the March to the beat it is perfect!
yes, it is a different place… love the expression of writing and how it reveals a face once hidden…
Myriad colours of
Winged thoughts painted here, ah
I sit mesmerised..
Well done.. and thanks..
Love your thoughts don’t let them fly off!! Love your interpretations!!
You killed it here, like the frank talk to the reader and then back into the poem and out again, nice work here friend
“Integrity fights…..” I think one goes through very often. Is it always draw?
All very clever. A lot of truth in your words too.
As always friend, your work is wonderful.
awesome lists..
That is indeed what blogs are for. I wonder can they help in any way to satisfy the muse in the first place?
Thanks so much to all of you for your enthusiasm. And thanks Ramesh for your haiku!
I enjoyed the perceptions you have shared in your passionate poetry.
May be not funny, but very inspirational. Have a blessed week :)
Thank you for all of these – I especially like marching to your own beat!
Great sets of Haiku’s and liked the idea of integrity at war with temptation!!
Have a great day!!
Cheers!!
