Billable Pep Talk
Today’s poetry prompt courtesy of Writers Block Daily is “chances are.” It inspired me to write this law-related limerick:
Billable Pep Talk
By Madeleine Begun Kane
“The chances are good that you’ll win,”
Said the lawyer, betraying a grin.
“But you know either way
You will still have to pay
Me the fee that is set forth herein.”

Chances are he’s one I won’t hire
Cuz the one to beware is the buyer
Only if I win will I pay
There’s no other way
30% of proceeds is better than higher
Chance are she won’t.
I touched and she said, “don’t”
You may think you’re so cool,
Since you went to private school.
But your chance of success is remote.
In deference to the party of the first part (MadK), the party of the second part (me) will not render Lawyer jokes in writing and will not include the findings of fact and conclusions upon which the jokes are based.
Chances are good that you’ll get another stay
But for that privilege your gonna have to pay.
You’re wasting the Court’s time
Might as well pay the fine
Just how much Justice can you afford anyway?
That is awesome! so clever Mad!
Very witty limerick to the prompt. Poor client!
Thanks so much everyone for your delightful verse and lovely comments!
Is there ANYTHING you can’t invent a limerick for? :)
LOL! Thanks Wenchypoo! Just stuff that drives me nuts which … come to think of it … is pretty much everything. :)
