Feet Trouble Afoot
Big Tent Poetry prompts us to write poems about feet this week. My pal Amanda’s already composed one. So, why not a limerick?
Feet Trouble Afoot
By Madeleine Begun Kane
I can’t always rely on my feet.
When I dance, they say “Please take a seat!”
Though I stretch ’em and bend ’em,
I can’t seem to mend ’em.
Of foot, I confess, I’m not fleet.

Oh too funny!
seriously my feet are the same
working properly is not their claim
keeping me up late at night
in the day their a fright
But I’ve got only myself to blame!
It’s something concerning a tendon
From the heel to the arch, extendin’
When it not all right is
Plantar fasciitis
The pain of the arches descendin’
I had to give up on my goal,
of dancing to good rock and roll.
I was light on my feet,
and I could keep the beat,
but alas, I didn’t have sole.
what’s this I read about feet?
I think your lim’rick is neat.
Dancing’s all very well
if you’re young and upbeat.
If you’re old, like me, it’s defeat.
Fun limericks, Amanda, Brion, and Scott. Thanks!
And Scott, I love your clever punch. :)
I’m laughing at all of these feet
Hopping a melodious beat
Free-style’s swooshed out this door
Lim’rick’s hogging the floor
Bye-bye boogie, you’ve been a treat
My feet used to slip with some ease
into rhythms felt clear to my knees
but last time I tried
found connection had died
between hips and movement that pleases.

Welcome Laurie and Elizabeth! I enjoyed your feet limericks and hope you’ll participate in my weekly Limerick-Offs!
Welcome Vivienne! I enjoyed your limerick too. I hope to see you here again. I post weekly Limerick-Offs — usually Sunday nights or Mondays. Hint, hint. :)
Scott that is awesome!
Fun and funny. I love the clever last line.
All are so very good!
:D
I write notes here…
When I grow up, I wanna write clever limericks like you do and now I learn that all your commenters are limericky, too. Sob. I’m so far behind.
Thanks everyone. And Tumblewords, I can’t begin to write the kind of poetry you write. :)
