Hairy Limerick
Once again, it’s Limerick-Off time. I hope you’ll join me in writing a limerick with this first line:
A gal who was youngish, yet gray…
Here’s mine. (It’s a two-verse limerick, but a standard one-verse limerick is fine, of course.)
Hairy Limerick
By Madeleine Begun Kane
A gal who was youngish, yet gray,
Considered a dye job one day,
But was coloring wary.
(It struck her as hairy.)
She refused, to her mother’s dismay.
Her mom said, “It’s time for some dye,
Else you’ll look even older than I.
And I can not afford
An old daughter — good lord —
If I want to attract a new guy.”
Please feel free to write your own limerick using the same first line and post it in my comments. And if you’re on Facebook, I hope you’ll join my friends in that same activity in my Facebook Limerick-Off post.
To receive an email alert whenever I post a new Limerick-Off, please send me an email requesting the alerts. You’ll find my email address on the upper right sidebar, right above my photo. Thanks!

A gal who was youngish, yet gray
wished the grayness would just go away
She used lots of dyes
Which would turn off the guys
All this young woman wants is a lay!
(I should have read yours first)
A gal who was youngish, yet gray
Died, and began to decay
Her sinew, it knotted
Her skin it got rotted
But her hair looks the same to this day!
A gal who was youngish, yet gray
Was the idol of her fiance`
Though her skin was like silk
She looked like a MILF
And it made for some sultry love-play!
These are great fun! Please keep them coming!
A gal who was youngish, yet gray.
Was frequently asked to betray
the years since her birth.
She responded with mirth:
I’m as young as the man goes astray.
:
Misconstrooops!
A gal who was youngish yet gray,
washed up near the rocks one dark day,
nightly while she was fast asleep
her brain told her that she should leap
BUT not from the bridge that spanned the bay!
A gal who was youngish, yet gray,
Was proud of her locks anyway.
To hell with convention
And mama’s dissention
It was au naturale that would stay!
Yes, she understood her mom’s plight
And, in a way, it wasn’t right
That she be youngish and gray
(Just “premature,” let’s say),
When her skin was clear and tight.
Family, fashion and flair
Such quandaries over her hair!
She loves mom AND herself
Should she keep the color on the shelf?
Or change her life and values ‘cuz she cares?
A gal who was youngish, yet gray,
means more than my words can convey.
My dear, loving wife,
I owe her my life,
A debt a can never repay.
Such a beautiful sight to behold.
With her I delight growing old
It is not gray that I see,
it is silver to me,
and encases a heart of pure gold.
A gal who was youngish, yet gray
Was propositioned one day
She declined and thought the man was rude
For calling her a prude
To this day she sits and waits
For Jesus and the pearly gates
A lass who was youthful but grey,
Said: “Alas! To be truthful, I’m gay.
I’ve a crush on my roomie
And wish that she’s do me;
I’ll ask her to do so today.”
A lass who was youthful but grey,
Said: “Alas! To be truthful, I’m gay.
I’ve a crush on my roomie
And wish that she’d do me;
I’ll ask her to do so today.”
A gal who was youngish, yet gray,
Wanted badly to star on Broadway.
She took the road less traveled by,
hitting on producers on the sly.
And now, she has many OBGYNs as creditors to pay!
A gal who was youngish, yet gray,
Was having a real bad-hair day;
And exclaimed, “I used lye
Instead of hair dye,
And now I must wear a toupee.”
