Tasty Books
Tasty Books (Limerick)
By Madeleine Begun Kane
Please don’t tell me you’re “moved” by a book,
Cuz I surely won’t give it a look.
I love thrillers and wit,
But abstain from chick lit
And spurn texts that explain how to cook.

Don’t tell me you’re “moved” by a book,
That is filled with such gobbledygook.
With each page detailin’,
The deep thoughts of Miss Palin
The dim-witted, tea-baggin’ schnook.
Don’t tell me you’re “moved” by a book,
It’d not be the one that I took
Of reading, I’m tired
By pictures, inspired
All the rest can stay right in the nook
The collectibles are my pleasure
The photojournalist’s treasure
They cover my coffee table
I peruse them when I’m able
They bring a joy I can hardly measure
In the past my preferences varied
But then, my life was less harried
A good novel or story
Could keep me in glory
But my life changed when I got married
Now it seems life is filled with drama
Working, being a wife and a mama
When a little time I have
Those pictures are like a salve
To my soul. OH! The panorama!
Thanks for your verse Scott and Veralynne.
