A Season For Limericks (Poetry Prompt)

I hope you’ll join me in writing a limerick with this as its first line:

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air.

Here’s mine:

A Season For Limericks
By Madeleine Begun Kane

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air,
And I’m strolling outside, both arms bare.
Yes, I know it can’t last.
Winter surely will blast
One more storm, but right now I don’t care.

Please feel free to write your own limerick using the same first line and post it in my comments. And if you’re on Facebook, you’re welcome to join my friends in that same activity in my Limerick-Offs.

  1. There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air.
It makes me want to stay out all night,
And bask in its Magical fare.
    The promises it brings,
    make me spread my wings.
    And prepare.

  2. Linkmeister says:

“There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air,”
Said the bear as he rose from his lair.
    “I must find some grub
but I need me a tub
I can’t eat without brushing my hair!”

  3. Lynn says:

    There’s a hint of sweet Spring in the air;
Go and take a deep breath, if you dare!
As you cough and you wheeze,
    And you fall to your knees;
Pollens knock you on your derriere.

  4. Tom Hale says:

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air,
“And about damn time, too!” I declare.
    We’ll go skinny dippin
    When Jack Frost stops nippin
Our noses and all things elsewhere.

  5. Dr. Goose says:

“There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air,”
Said Mitt Romney, moussing his hair,
    “My fortunes may blossom
    ‘Cause I’d be really awesome
    As the Elephant’s new standard-bearer.”

  6. madkane says:

Thanks for your fun versifying and please keep your limericks coming!

  7. There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air
Get up off your fat derriere
Time to walk, run, and bike
    Or take a long hike
Then it’s time for the wine and Gruyere

  8. Ed Webb says:

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air
    And my step, a thing all too rare;
    The sun, long past due,
    At last breaks on through
And our faces have smiles to spare

  9. Lisa Christian says:

Unfortunately, this is based on $270 worth of truth and chemicals…

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air
Time to open the pool – What a scare!
    What’s that joke that I’ve seen…?
    “Why’s the water so green?–
‘Cause, I throw so much money in there!”

  10. Lisa Christian says:

    Or maybe this one…

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air
As I open the trunk for the spare.
I get soaked by spring showers
    (While great for the flowers)
They’re not doing much for my hair.
(Or my shoes… or my suit…)

  11. Spring (mine)
    ———————–
There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air.
It snapped me from cold winter’s stare.
    How glum was the dearth,
When the sun hit the earth,
T’was like a kick in the ol’ derriere!

    (my grandpa’s rejoinder)
    ————–
    ‘Tis spring in Alaska too
Tho’ there’s snow here up the wazoo.
    There’s mud in the streets
And it still will be weeks
Before the sun sneaks in one peek-a-boo.

  12. Veralynne Pepper says:

There’s a hint of sweet spring in the air!
I can feel a light breeze through my hair.
One last breath through my nose,
And I’ll put on some clothes
    Before someone discovers I’m bare.

  13. madkane says:

So glad to see more fun spring limericks here! I love the variety and the humor in so many of them. Please keep them coming and, if you’re on Facebook, post them there too. Thanks!

  14. SteveNance says:

There’s a hint of spring in the air!
    Sixty-four basketball teams, all paired
    For one final March Madness,
Then it’s back, with some sadness
To real life, no more games on the air

There’s a hint of spring in the air
    I’m not a hoops addict, I swear!
Just win one more, oh please,
    Then these creaky old knees,
I’ll crank up, and get moving, out there
