Misspent Youth?
Yes, I know this is supposed to be a humor blog. But this “misspent youth” poetry prompt inspired me to write a serious limerick:
Misspent Youth?
By Madeleine Begun Kane
We tend to be charmed and beguiled
By a talented prodigy child—
One who labors all day
With his gifts on display,
Stifling youth, which is meant to be wild.
Excellent limerick. You have to empathy with young prodigies, or children whose parents push them into the entertainment industry at much too young an age. Our youth is such a short period of our lives. It should be spent being young and carefree.
nope… i’ll take the one with the long hair and tattoos……
Love your limericks!
I love it.
Thanks for your comments!
Bravo!!!
excellent, very true
Very good indeed Madeleine……….I see this all the time at my kids’ school, parents who push the life out of their kids, for why?
Ranks right up there with Nantucket.
Ah… nice.
Thanks everyone!
