A Horse Of A Different Color
These two horse-related poems were loosely inspired by this week’s Totally Optional Prompt:
First, a limerick:
A Horse of A Different Color
By Madeleine Begun Kane
There are folks who succumb to a weakness
For races like Belmont and Preakness.
But there’s only one horse
Race I’ll bet on—the course
To the White House—a sign of my geekness?
And now, a haiku about New York City:
Trumpeting cars horns.
Clip-clopping carriage horses.
Central Park Sunday.

they were both lovely… you are so talented….
Thanks so much, Paisley!
I appreciate your point of view. Excellent!
Both are very nice. The Haiku paints a lovely picture.
Yep, good ones! I enjoyed.
Enjoyed these–both of them. The second reminded me of the first time I tried to go rollerskating in Central Park on a Sunday. A bad skater and horses–not a good combination. LOL.
I liked the haiku best–I could hear the horses and traffic. Nice.
I liked the limerick the best :)
Awesome! I love the limerick.
The haiku is so New York. I hear it and smell it, even from the West!
Hi, this is my first time posting with this meme, hence the unfamiliar name on your blog.
I like your lighthearted approach in the limmerick. My poem is a bummer after reading yours!
The horses in the park take me right back to New York. Vivid.
Despite being short, both creat vivd images.
Fiendishly clever!
Happy horsing!
Thanks everyone!
Clever horse limerick – I like your use of enjambment (a favourite device of mine). I’ve also been known to adapt words, even when they technically don’t exist (geekness). Very enjoyable!
